Custom Development.

Overview

In addition to developing generic online training, e3Learning develops custom training for organisations such as OneSteel, Spotless, Programmed Maintenance Services (PMS) and Amcor. e3Learning develops strong partnerships with each organisation to create training that caters for the unique educational requirements of their staff. Case studies on our collaboration with these organisations can be viewed here.

Our development process consists of four main stages:

  • Project Scoping – creation of a training plan and the identification and collation of resources
  • Pre-Production – the production of course and activity scripts
  • Course Production – the development and collation of educational resources
  • Course Implementation – rolling out of the training within the client’s organisation

Custom Development

At every stage in the development of course materials, e3Learning’s quality assurance team thoroughly review and, where applicable, test materials developed prior to external review or publication. This applies to scripted materials, concept drafts, interactive activities, interactive scenarios, recorded audio, generated images, prototype and final courses.

Project Scoping

In the initial stage, e3Learning provides an instructional design specialist who work in conjunction with the relevant client representatives to create an overall plan for the development of the courses. This involves:

  • Determining the goals and objectives
    of the courses
  • Evaluating the learner profiles (including elements such as the most effective style for training delivery)
  • Assessing the delivery environment
  • Developing course plans for each course, mindful of the learner profiles and the delivery environment
  • Assessing existing content currently in use for translation for online delivery
  • Identifying any supporting resources that can be used in the course development
  • Creating a project plan that identifies the major deadlines within the project and the roles and responsibilities of e3Learning and the client
Pre-Production

Upon completion of the scoping process, the process of developing the content for the courses commences. During this stage, an instructional designer works from the course plans and resources provided to:

  • Develop initial screen and audio scripts that detail text, images and audio content
  • Develop initial scripts for any activities that will be produced
  • Implement the client’s feedback and complete the scripting process
  • Facilitate feedback and reviews from the client representative
  • Implement the client’s feedback into the final content and achieves course approval
Course Production

The production process involves the development and compilation of all of the resources for the course. Regular updates are provided to the client at each stage of development. Each significant component of the course developed is presented to the client’s representatives for review, integration of feedback and approval. The production process involves:

  • The development of a visual 'look and feel'
  • The development of a prototype course, including images and text
  • The development of prototypes for any simulated environments required
  • The development of completed courses, including images, audio and text
  • The development of interactive simulations and activities
  • The compilation of all resources developed into a final product
  • The integration of the final product into LearnForce
Implementation

Once the final approval has been received, the production manager organises handover from production to implementation. The implementation process for a custom course is functionally identical to the implementation of any of our pre-packaged courses.

An outline of this process can be viewed on the implementation page.
